This course examines theories, research and educational practices in bilingualism and multilingualism. Students will become familiar with major conceptual and methodological issues in research about the use and acquisition of two or more languages in bi/multilingual societal and educational contexts. Individual and societal dimensions will be considered through the examination of a wide range of approaches. Accordingly, the course is transdisciplinary in nature, bringing together work from anthropology, education, psychology, and (socio)linguistics.
