This course addresses English language instruction and content instruction for English Learning students in mainstream classrooms. The purpose of this course is to provide information necessary to the design of materials and instructional strategies for English Language Learners in K-12 context. In this course, we will focus on current issues and techniques in instruction for ELL students who are at different stages of English language acquisition in the K-12 school context. The course will also consider the nature of immigrants' experiences of a new country and school context. Practical field experiences integrated into the course will provide students with the opportunity to apply and demonstrate principles and strategies presented in the course.
